Following the building of a sun room on the back of the house my clients required a contemporary low maintenance entertaining space. Privacy was an issue from surrounding houses and a child’s trampoline next to one boundary. Raised beds, lighting and a water feature were also requested. The paving used was a polished sandstone with a feature ‘planked’ effect mirroring the oak planked floor in the sun room. The paving strips ran through the rest of the paved area. The same stone was used as coping for the rendered walls. A large two tier water feature was installed with a large bamboo planted behind for additional screening in the corner. A bespoke timber slatted boundary fence was built and wired for climbers. The lighting consisted of stainless steel downlights on the fencing, uplights in the two reservoirs of the water feature and in ground lights between the three granite planters and along the base of the raised beds.
