Although a flat, neat and tidy lawn dominated this part of the garden, the brief was to create structure and interest with plenty of planting borders providing space for the client’s passion for plants. A keen plantswoman and Chair of the local Horticultural Society her brief was for lots of space for plants, a water feature and a garden structure for climbers. A design based on circles was undertaken. A raised dry stone wall was built incorporating the circular shape to the design. The lawn was reshaped into two circles with mowing strips and connected by a paved area featuring a large terracotta water feature beneath a metal gazebo and symmetrical planting beds.
