Walled garden Cheshire project.
This new build property required a number of garden areas designing. One of the areas, to one side of the house, was to be a traditional walled garden.
The longest of the site’s boundaries was an overgrown and muddled mix of fencing, hedging and old shrubs. The site sat next to a small trading estate owned by the clients. This side of the property had no privacy or security. Constant day time noise from the movement of vehicles was another problem.
A high brick wall was built which immediately helped to cut down the noise. It also provided privacy and security to this part of the garden. The wall wrapped around the front of the area providing a boundary between driveway and garden. In the future double gates will be erected. Plenty of planting borders were created to provide a tranquil and private area in which to sit.
The client requested an ordered formal layout but with informal planting as he disliked box hedging and topiary. A circular artifical grass lawn was installed for low maintenance. Once the planted up borders have filled out, weeds will be suppressed and the garden can be enjoyed.
